WELCOME MY BEAUTIES
My name is Diana Debreczeni, the founder of Dikon Beauty. I created this article for you to discover and understand what is the secret of the timeless concept of young skin. Aging is a natural process that cannot be reversed, but some factors are within your power to help you adjust and control the way your skin ages.
Passionate about beauty and everything related to it, at the age of forty-two I can proudly say that I made a pact with time. It may sound like a cliché for you, but below you will discover the meaning of my words, and personal recommendations to keep your timeless chic no matter how old you are.
Flirting with the world of modeling and beauty during my adolescence until my middle age, and with body personal maintenance until the present, I can say that I lived an epic and unique experience during all those years, that will always engrave a wide smile on my face whenever to think of that period.
That glowing experience was my launching pad that aroused my interest and thirst for in-depth knowledge of all that the natural beauty of healthy, radiant skin means. It changed the way I perceived my skincare routine.
Since adolescence, I have learned to take care of my skin, and I have paid attention not only to what I do, but especially to how I do to maintain its natural health: more skin care, and less make-up. Skincare is a process in which the more you get involved from a young age, the more you will see remarkable results at an older age.
“Nature gives you the face you have at twenty. It is up to you to merit the face you have at fifty.”
YOUR SKIN IS A CANVAS
Your skincare routine should not be just about what and how you use, it but also about how you think. Imagine that your skin is a canvas on which different states of health leave their marks.
Everything that happens inside your body will be reflected in your skin, everything correlated with mentality, emotions, nutrition, rest, and regular exercise. If some, or all of these areas are altered, your skin will send you the red flag to warn you. So, improve and balance these health areas in your lifestyle, and you will build the foundation of healthier and younger skin.
“Your skin has a memory. In ten, twenty, or thirty years from now, your skin will show the results of how it was treated today. So treat it kindly and with respect.”
Of course, external factors (UV radiation, pollution, climate, seasonal changes) plays also an important role in influencing the quality of your skin’s health. Here comes also, in the process, the products used in the beauty and skincare routine. They must be natural, of very good quality, and whose ingredients work on the skin in the deepest layers.
Having a deep passion for Asian culture in general, I couldn’t help but fall in love with their cuisine, music, fashion, and of course their beauty and skincare products. In special Korean ones. I have always been captivated by the visuals of both Korean women and men, whose skin is always silky, flawless, and translucent.
Linked from one passion to another, back in 2013, I began my educational journey to Korean knowledge in the routine of beauty and skin care. You are certainly familiar with the term “K-Beauty” and what it implies, but if you are still a novice, the Wikipedia platform gives the simplest and most concrete definition: ” K-Beauty is an umbrella term for skincare products that are derived from South Korea.”
Over the years, I have tried countless Korean skincare products from the best Korean brands, and I can say that I have unearthed their little secrets of beauty and skincare which have only made me even more passionate about K-Beauty. A passion and knowledge that I want to share with you through my Dikon Beauty website.
In Korea, skincare culture goes beyond products, having a more holistic approach. Their 10-step night and day skincare routine is the best process that treats, prevents, and combats common skin issues: eczema, acne and acne scars, fine lines of expression and wrinkles, blackheads, dark circles, pigmentation, breakouts, dull skin, premature aging, dilated pores, to name a few, and creates that soothing, sensual, and meditative appearance.
From the variety of products that I recommend for you here at Dikon Beauty, you can select the best suits for your personality, skin type, skin concerns, certain ingredients, favorite brands, or the routine you want to create.
So, be playful and dare to discover the benefits and secrets that another culture can offer you in the field of beauty and skin care. You will certainly not be disappointed and not only that. You will fall in love with them!
As I promised at the beginning of the article, I offer you personal recommendations which I have considered since I was a teenager, and which have still been present in my routine.
I always say that the basis of a healthy and youthful complexion is some healthy habits, which must be applied constantly to provide remarkable results.
HEALTHY HABITS THAT WILL CHANGE THE GAME IN YOUR SKINCARE ROUTINE
#1. MAKE SKIN CARE A PRIORITY FROM AN EARLY AGE – The more you pay attention to skin care in your youth, the more you will be satisfied in your old age. Prevention is always more effective than treatment! But, don’t get me wrong. Under no circumstances do I recommend using anti-aging treatments at a younger age. Each age has its cycle of care. Do not use products specific to the age of 40+ at the age of 20+. Love your skin, understand its needs, and respect them.
#2. REMOVE YOUR MAKE-UP – Always take off your make-up the night before bed. This way, your skin can breathe without barriers. Even if you don’t use make-up during the day, cleaning your face every night is a MUST-DO!
#3. DO A PROPER FACIAL CLEANSING TWICE A DAY – Once in the morning and once in the night. Most of the skin issues are often because of lack or incorrect cleansing. You can do double cleansing using oil cleansers (which can also be used to remove make-up), and water cleansers. But do not overdo it with the cleaning process: many minutes in a row, or many times a day. The more you want to purify your skin, the more you can damage its protective barrier.
#4. PAY ATTENTION TO THE NUMBER OF HOURS AND THE QUALITY OF SLEEP – During sleep, your skin takes a break from fighting free radicals during the day, so it’s the perfect time to regenerate, repair, and replenish. The more hours you offer during the night for this process to be completed, the more you will wake up with a healthier and brighter complexion. Four hours of sleep is not equal to six, or eight hours. Also, the quality of sleep leaves its mark on your face. For a restful sleep, I recommend replacing the cotton pillow with a silk one. Not only will it prevent breakouts on your skin, but it will also keep a dry and refreshing surface.
#5. HAVE A BALANCED DIET AND VARIED NUTRITION – A rich variety of fruits and vegetables will protect your skin from damage, and fatty acids in your diet will give your skin suppleness and elasticity. Also consider reducing the amount of alcohol, coffee, and sugar in your diet that only supports inflammation and premature aging.
#6. HYDRATION IS ESSENTIAL – The proper functioning of the cells and the entire skin system depends on the presence of water in the body. Do your best to consume at least 2 liters of water a day. To give it a subtle flavor, you can add a few drops of lemon, lime juice, or a slice of orange as I like to drink.
#7. EXERCISE YOUR FACE MUSCLES – Just as you work your body muscles to keep them fit and toned, you need to consider your facial muscles, to activate blood circulation. If they are not trained, in the aging process, they atrophy. Also, with the application of the moisturizer, you can make a relaxing facial massage with your fingertips, from the bottom up.
#8. AVOID PRODUCTS THAT CONTAIN PERFUME, PARABENS, PURE ESSENTIAL OILS, OR SULFATES – The use of products containing these ingredients does nothing but cause inflammation at the cellular level, mature the skin, and support the appearance of various skin issues.
#9. DO NOT SQUEEZE A PIMPLE FROM THE FACE – Always let the pimple heal on its own. The fact that you squeeze it only interrupts its natural healing process.
#10. AVOID DIRECT AND LONG SUN EXPOSURE – UV has a direct impact on your skin. In addition to the fact that prolonged exposure without protection can cause skin burns, age the skin, and produce dark spots, it also affects vitamins C and A, which are essential for your skin. Use a high SPF during the day.
#11. MEDITATE – Stress is the cause of many internal health problems, but it always leaves the first marks on the face. Meditation is a natural source of calming and stress relief and ensures a balanced functioning of hormones, an important factor in beauty.
In general, hormonal changes increase the sensitivity of the skin and cause acne and hyperpigmentation. But meditation restores their functional balance. Simple breathing during meditation stimulates collagen production and reverses the molecular mechanism of skin aging. Consider making meditation a daily routine, even if you only do it for a few minutes.
THE FINAL NOTE!
How well do you know your skin to know what it is trying to tell you?
How much time do you spend on skincare?
Have you formed your skincare routine?
These are just a few questions that you should consider when it comes to your skin. Consider it your best friend. Love it, respect it, and protect it, because it will represent you until the end of your life.
XoXo…

Hay, well you definitely look like you are taking great care of your skin!
i have been struggling with melasma now for around 2 years. It’s really drained my confidence in myself. It says that the treatment can treat hyperpigmentation but to what degree? Have you had any experience with melasma? If so can you tell me what results the treatment has had?
i agree that the way you treat your skin shows. I’m trying really hard to look after my skin now. I’m 35 and I definitely feel like my skin has taken a beating after IVF and pregnancy!
cheers Tigan
Hi Tigan,
Two years is a long time. Normally, depending on the factor that caused it, melasma fade away on its own after a few months, or in some cases it can last for a longer period.
In your case, having as a consequence the hormonal imbalance due to IVF and pregnancy, its tone is more accentuated, and you probably did not pay maximum attention to an advanced sun protection.
From what I understand from your comment, you have not been reviewed by a dermatologist. In general, they recommend treatment with hydroquinone. I personally cannot say how effective it is. Don’t forget that each person has a unique skin type and their condition problems are personalized. That is why the result of the treatment differs from case to case.
In my case, although I’ve been living in a subtropical oceanic climate location for almost 10 years, I don’t face these kinds of problems. At first, when I came to the island, I had a appearance of melasma in the chest area. But with some of the Korean products I use, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Serum and Jumiso First Skin Lightening Mask, the dark brown spots disappeared completely in no time. I massage them on the face, neck and chest, and I also use the serum left over from the mask on the body. The serum every day, and the mask once every two days.
Other products that I can recommend for your skin condition would be Jumiso All Day Brightening and Balancing Vitamin Serum, Missha Time Revolution the First Treatment Essence, and in general, products with Korean red ginseng powder, kojic acid (japanese) and vitamin C.
With all that said, I must highlight that the worst enemy of melasma is the sun exposure, especially when you are using products which contains lemon, because lemanoil from it is photosensitive. So, use them only for night.
Also, don’t forget to use a hight SPF product during the day, even if it’s a sunny day or, a cloudy one.
Thank you for stopping by, Tigan, and you are more than welcome to come back for new updates.
You’ve got some great ideas in here! I am surprised at how many people do not know that skincare should be a priority for both staying healthy (preventing skin cancers and skin infections) and for keeping a youthful appearance. I would also add to avoid smoking, as this rapidly ages the entire body and especially delicate facial areas.
Hi Aly,
Thank you for your input. Indeed, many people see the skin only as an envelope in which we are wrapped. But the skin is definitely much more than that. It is a living, breathing, working organ, with many functions, which does this non-stop.
A healthy skin functions as a secretory organ that removes un-needed material through pores and follicles.
On the other hand, smoking, as you mentioned, brings significant short-or- long term effects on our general body health and skin.
The chemicals from the cigarette affect the elastin and collagen fibers in our skin, and smoking in general causes changes leaving our skin with an aged, wrinkled, faded, and dull appearance.
I was looking to find an article that would explain to me why I have my skid dry and bumped into this website. Still, it was quite interesting and useful to find some advice on that. I know for a long time now that I got sensitive skin, for example, if I wash my hands with soup in a public place, my hands will feel super dry. Sometimes I find the skin on my face becomes dry just due to ambient humidity.
But I find your advice quite interesting, I will try them for some time, to see if it will bring in some changes.
Nice post! You have written useful and practical information.
